Happy Hour Highlight: Basalt at Duke’s Lane Waikiki
Checkout Duke’s Lane in Waikiki, BASALT has tasty food and drinks for great prices with a daily happy hour of 3p-6p. You won’t compromise quality for price on this happy hour! The local family of the ABC Stores chain decided to launch this restaurant and Duke’s lane for a unique shopping and dining experience. They have a gourmet style ABC Store, several small eateries, beverage options in addition to their main restaurant and bar, Basalt. They also have a wine and spirit store where even though you are in Waikiki, you could find a really good deal on a great bottle of wine or a fine spirit.
On to Basalt and their local flare menu with a sophisticated execution. The prices are reasonable and Happy Hour is a bargain. Hince why Smart Living Hawaii is featuring this place! This happy hour has numerous food items and drink specials and almost everything on their Happy Hour Menu is under $10! We love their Waygu beef burgers for $5! It’s not a small little slider, it’s bigger than expected with butter lettuce and a super soft brioche bun. Their chicken wings are not your usual buffalo wings but their take on them. It has a complex set of flavors with their dipping sauce, glaze and fried chicken skin chips!
We did decide to test out the salt & pepper prawns and they were ono and on point with that authentic flavor you expect with this dish. (Off the Dinner Menu) When you order from the regular dinner menu, they will bring you their signature charcoal dinner rolls. Don’t let their jet black color deter you because they are very soft and slightly sweet.
On to the drinks, for happy hour they have a decent selection at sweet prices. And on their regular menu they do have a list of craft cocktails and a nice selection of wines that you can order in tasting pours. The setting is casual with inside, outside and bar seating but you have the touch and taste of a more refined pallet and quality food.
Parking is also one of the best deals in the heart of Waikiki. By dining at Basalt you can get up to 4hr FREE hours of validated self-parking at Hyatt Centric parking garage. Make sure to park on levels 4 or 5 and it’s a bit tricky to find, follow these directions: head down Kalakaua and turn left into Seaside Ave. Once you pass Ross Dress For Less, it will be the next building and you will pull in, punch a ticket and drive up a ramp. I believe you can also get 1 FREE hour of parking there as well if you shop in Duke’s Lane.
Lastly, we have been there numerous times and have found the staff, servers, food runners, sommelier and bartenders all very pleasant and accommodating. Enjoy and please let us know what you think of you make it to Basalt in Duke’s Lane. Cheers!
